Surgical technologist visits class at Grimes School

Middle School students at Grimes School learned about the importance of surgical technologists in the operating room on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Katijah Woodley, a surgical technologist, joined the living environment classroom to discuss her role in the operating room and beyond.

While exploring key instruments used during surgery and important operations that provide patients with a new lease on life, students also learned why practices, such as sterility, are key for a patient’s success during and after operations. Students are learning about cells in their classes. Since Ms. Woodley works in an operating room, she understands the practical importance of a body’s cells during surgeries.

"I look at each patient as a family member. This allows us to do our very best in ensuring that we provide them with quality care," said Ms. Woodley.
