Grimes Schools hosts Scholastic Book Fair
Grimes School hosted the Scholastic Book Fair from Monday, February 27, to Friday, March 3, 2023.
"Grimes School believes in literacy!" said Lucille Martir, assistant principal at Grimes School. "We had a fantastic book fair this year. The Scholastic motto starts with a choice: What do I want to read? And since being empowered to choose books is a milestone opportunity to identify and express our own voices, kids left the Book Fair bolder, prouder, and stronger individuals."
Profits will assist grade 8 students' end of the year activities and also improve the middle school book collection and resources.

Grimes School middle school students took a day trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture on Monday, March 11, 2024. As a day of learning and reflection, students made real world connections between their social studies curriculum and the exhibits in the museum.
Grimes School Principal Dr. Severin Cornelius successfully defended his dissertation and completed the Doctor of Education (EdD) program at Marymount University on Thursday, March 7, 2024. His doctorate is in educational leadership and organizational innovation.
Third grade students at Grimes School rushed to the auditorium to see who won the Buddy White Essay Contest on Thursday, February 29, 2024. The essay contest provided positive reinforcement for students in third grade, in hopes of inspiring young scholars to dream big.
Students listened to impactful and inspirational stories of Black Americans at Grimes schools for their Black History Read-A-Thon on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
A donation of groceries to Grimes School students was made by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Zeta Nu Omega Chapter on Friday, January 5, 2024. Their donation was the first of the Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (CHIPP) program, designed to offer free meals and snacks for students enrolled at the school weekly.
Second grade students in Nikysha Copeland Bey’s class at Grimes School presented museum display projects for their Native American unit on Thursday, November 30, 2023. The displays modeled the several regions across the country that Native Americans lived in.
