Grimes School students in Debate Club receive medals for in-school tournament

In honor of Veterans Day, first-grade students at Grimes School received a visit from an ex-serviceman this morning, who read to them and answered their questions about the holiday. 

Congratulations to Amin Shabazz and Jaxon Reilly for being selected as Students of the Month at Grimes School! Amin, who was recognized as  Student of the Month for October, has shown tremendous growth and improvement, demonstrating dedication and excellence across all core subjects. Jaxon, who was recognized as Student of the Month for September, consistently demonstrates outstanding effort, a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence. Keep up the great work, Amin and Jaxon!

Grimes School inaugural “Welcome to Fall Extravaganza” was an unforgettable success and a vibrant celebration of the season! With colorful decorations, festive displays, and activity stations throughout the room, the space radiated autumn joy.

Students in Kimberly Slone's fourth grade class at Grimes School spent the week leading up to Halloween writing their own spooky stories. They began by writing out their ideas and used green paper to create a greenscreen background. Students then recorded themselves telling their stories on their iPads. 

For Hispanic Heritage 2025, Grimes created a Spirit Week. Monday, October 20 was Flag Day. Each class at Grimes was assigned a different Hispanic country. There was a total of 25 flags in which each class researched and displayed their flags once completed in their own unique ways. 

Grimes Elementary School students embarked on a delightful literacy adventure throughout the week, as special guests visited the school to engage in captivating stories for Read-a-Loud to a Child Week. Read-a-louds are a crucial part of vocabulary development, comprehension and fostering a love for reading across all grade levels.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Marcus Green, math teacher at Grimes School, and Dr. Joyce Corpas, Special Education Supervisor, dressed in pink to spread awareness at Grimes. 

Grimes School's grades K-3 teachers met for a professional learning community (PLC) meeting Wednesday morning to discuss learning standards and strategies. The professional development was conducted by Dr. Satish Jagnandan, Director of Assessment, Mathematics and Science; and Marybeth Rhodes, Director of Humanities. They will be conducting professional developments throughout the District.
