Incoming Superintendent of Schools Dr. Demario Strickland continued engaging with the Mount Vernon community on Wednesday evening during the second session of Let’s Talk: Conversations with Dr. Strickland. He will meet with community members again at the third Let’s Talk at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, at Denzel Washington School of the Arts.

A group of mothers was honored Wednesday by parent liaisons for their volunteerism, support and outstanding contributions to their respective schools in the Mount Vernon City School District throughout the year.
Twenty-eight seniors from Mount Vernon High School, STEAM Academy and Denzel Washington School of the Arts were honored at the Board of Education meeting Tuesday as recipients of the Edith Kaplan Scholarship for making meaningful contributions to their schools and communities.
At the final regular Board of Education meeting of the 2024-2025 school year, the Mount Vernon City School District’s accomplishments under Acting Superintendent Dr. K.
